Explore Day-to-Day Itinerary

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Moshi, the charming base town known as the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro. Settle in at The Maridadi Hotel (or similar) for a relaxing evening with dinner included.

After breakfast and a trek briefing, drive 45 minutes to Marangu Gate. Register with park authorities and begin your four-hour trek through the lush rainforest. Keep an eye out for playful monkeys and colorful birds! Arrive at Mandara Hut (2,750m) for dinner and your first night in the mountain huts.

Hike through the last stretches of forest and into the scenic heather and moorland zone, enjoying stunning views of the towering Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. After about six hours, arrive at Horombo Hut (3,720m), surrounded by unique alpine plants. Settle in for dinner and overnight.

This important acclimatization day helps your body adjust to the altitude. Take a hike towards Mawenzi Hut and back, soaking in incredible views and landscapes before returning to Horombo Hut for another overnight stay.

Continue climbing past the final water point and across the vast alpine desert saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. This seven-hour trek brings you to Kibo Hut (4,703m), where you’ll rest early in preparation for your summit push.

Wake just after midnight to begin your summit attempt. Climb up steep scree to Gillman’s Point (5,861m) on the crater rim, reaching it by sunrise. Continue for another two hours to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) — Africa’s highest point! After celebrating, descend carefully all the way to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.

Complete your descent through the rainforest back to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your official summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi for dinner and overnight at The Maridadi Hotel (or similar).

After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey. End of services.
